Design solutions overview
The design solutions library contains examples of treatments that have been successfully implemented in NSW. The design solutions can be used to demonstrate treatments that can be approved and implemented in similarly appropriate circumstances. Where applicable, it shows features that depart from current guidance, supported by construction details where possible for technical evidence.
Design solutions are arranged by cost and complexity so you can filter them to suit your budget and scope for change.
Low complexity
Solutions that may be lower cost and complexity. These will generally involve minimal traffic management during construction. They typically do not involve changes to drainage or kerb. They could be off the carriageway, for example in the verge, or involve signs and delineation which can be painted on relatively quickly.
Medium complexity
Solutions that still may be relatively quick to deliver but may involve higher cost and complexity. These solutions may involve reallocating space within the carriageway and could require changes to drainage or kerb.
High complexity
Solutions that involve a higher cost and complexity – requiring a longer construction time with traffic management. While these solutions may provide a better looking longer lasting result, often the same outcome can be tested with a lower cost solution first.
