Preserve corridor space and locate and design land use to avoid needing to deal with the effect of noise.
Benefits
- Improves quality of outcomes in residential areas, centres and other places where people spend time
Considerations
- Will require coordination between agencies to implement
- Difficult to implement if not considered early

Example
Along much of its length, the M7 sits adjacent open space or non‑sensitive land uses. Whilst it was delivered ahead of much of this land being developed, its corridor was considered as part of a broader land use planning exercise through which it was located away from adjacent residential areas as much as possible. Much of the industrial land nearby has been able to benefit from being able to access the motorway network easily.
