This advice is for project teams starting the Movement and Place core process and can help you establish a context analysis, vision and objectives for your project or plan.
Understanding a place and developing a shared vision for its future are vital first steps in developing a robust Movement and Place project or plan.
As suggested in the Practitioners' Guide to Movement and Place, a core project team does the initial work towards establishing a place-based vision by reviewing the context, understanding the planning intent, and reviewing previous consultations with the community. With this understanding, the core team can then collaborate with the broader group of stakeholders to identify ideas and issues to be addressed in the project.
This provides guidance on the inputs, outputs and processes leading up to the first stakeholder workshop. It also offers advice on how to run the workshop based on previous project experiences.
Project teams are encouraged to record these steps in the Movement and Place collaboration report.
